History

It was 1910’s a sitio of Palta Big on the South east part named Cabihian which derived from a plant “BIHI” that scattered along the road side, farms and rice field. Bihi is a plant looks like a bandera espanola with a red flower. And when a person asked somebody where have you been or where will you go the answer is in Cabihian meaning from the place where many bihi.

In year 1970’s when former President Ferdinand E. Marcos declared under Republic Act No. 3590 that sitio Cabihian become one barangay of the Municipality of Virac facilitated by the former Barangay Council of Palta Big Headed by Barangay Captain Estaneslao Tabios, Barangay Kagawad Guillermo Tria Sr. with the help of Mr. Charles Tapel, Mr. Norberto Tatad, Mr. Eustaquio Alejandro and Mr. Ramon Ramirez and duly approved by former Municipal Mayor Jose Arcilla and Congressman Jose M. Alberto. The Patron saint of barangay is San Roque whose celebrates its Fiesta every May 15-16.
