History

After the discovery of the Philippines, several Governor Generals administer our province, one of them was Governor General JUAN MORALES Y ASUNCION who subdivided several barangay in the Municipality of Virac. After the division of the three-neighboring barangay, who was fondly called as “ILAWOD”, our barangay was named in behalf of our Patron Saint, IMMACULADA CONCEPCION and was later officially proclaimed as BARRIO CONCEPCION.

That day marks the birth of a barangay that was situated in the heart of Virac. A barangay that is known to be the center of commerce in the Municipality of Virac and was the capital barangay of Virac. Until now, that recognition was never forgotten by the people of the Province of Catanduanes. Several leaders of the barangay workef for the development and progress of the barangay. To mention a few, they were: MRS. PLACIDA TALARAN MR. FLORENTINO DE LEON MR. JAMIE URBANO MR. ARNEL VARGAS MR. ANTONIO ASUNCION JR. At present, PUNONG BARANGAY EDGARDO F. GIANAN continues his eagerness and dedication to service to uplift the development of the barangay and to be recognized in entire the Philippines.
