History

“Contod”, it’s an original name before it was separated from Barangay Gogon. The first people living in this barangay were the Sarmiento, Gianan, Panti, Socito, and Joson family. The place was called Contod because the road appears to be high and slantingly. The first leader of this barangay was Felix Benavidez, second was Leonardo Cajuday, third Godofredo Masagca, fourth was Leonor Gapaz, fifth was Anita Sorra, sixth was Michael Angelo Bagadiong, seventh was Romeo Santelices, and Hon. Rafael C. Zuniega the eight and the present Punong Barangay. Because of the misunderstanding between Gogon and Contod the sitio was separated, thru the initiative of the people and with the help of the Late Segundo Gianan Sr. The residents of Contod create a leader. The very first leader was Felix Benavidez, and consider as the father of the barangay.

Barangay San Isidro Village eastern located one kilometer away from Municipal Proper. The land of San Isidro Village Chapel was donated by the late Ulpiano Sarmiento with the help of formerly Juan Sarmiento and his wife Cipriana Sarmiento with a total land area of 200 sq.m.

San Isidro Village became Parishes of the Diocese of Virac since 1984 and celebrates a religious festivities every year, May 14-15 in honor of the Patron Saint Isidore the farmer.

In 1972 by virtue of Republic Act No. 3590 Conton which gives birth to the present name of San Isidro Village being situated in the eastern part of the barangay that occupies a total land area of 18,700.00 hectares. Slope
