The first ever one stop shop of medical assistance in Catanduanes has been officially launched earlier this afternoon at the Eastern Bicol Medical Center in Virac, Catanduanes.
EBMC’s Malasakit Center is the 133rd Malasakit Center in Philippines and it will house different assistance offices that will help fast track the process of extending medical assistance to indigent patients in the Philippines through Republic Act No. 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act which we co-authored for approval at the 18th Congress last 2019.
Through this facility, more Catandunganons will benefit from our Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients funding, in which in 2020, nearly 30 Million pesos worth of MAIP were extended to the different district hospitals in Catanduanes and hospitals in the Bicol and National Capital Region. This 2021, another 20 Million worth of funding were also downloaded for the benefit of the Catandunganon people.
The launching of the Malasakit Center was facilitated by Senator and Senate Committee on Health Chairman, Christopher Lawrence Bong Go. And present during the momentous event were yours truly, Hector S. Sanchez, Gov. Joseph Boboy Cua, Local Chief Executives of Catanduanes, Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary Rudy Encabo and EBMC staff headed by Chief of Hospital II, Dra. Vietrez Abella.
I send my sincerest thanks to everyone who helped make this launching possible and to all medical frontliners who continuously work their best to keep us all safe and protected.
Dios mabalos asin mabuhay po kamo gabos!
